コメント

I am honored to have been given the Young Researcher Encouragement Award at the 17th Annual Meeting of the Biomedical Society for Stress Response, Japan in 2023. This award motivated me to pursue a more advanced academic research career and to become a good research scientist in the future. I strongly believe that getting an excellent research society with erudite people who have had practical experience in cutting-edge research is an impactful and essential step toward achieving the goal of young researchers. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the selection committees and everyone participating in the academic society for their evaluation.

Our study addresses the challenge of cisplatin resistance in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) treatment. We highlights the potential of mifepristone, identified through an FDA-approved drug library screening for the integrated stress response (ISR) activators, as a chemosensitizer to enhance the efficacy of cisplatin-based therapy for NSCLC. Because mifepristone is widely used in reproductive medicine and endocrine diseases, its safety and pharmacokinetics are extensively studied, making it easier to progress to clinical trials. We look forward to the evaluation of the potential of mifepristone against NSCLC after cisplatin treatment in a future clinical trial.

Lastly, the award would not have been possible without the guidance and support of my supervisor, Professor Seiichi Oyadomari, as well as the contributions of co-researchers in the Division of Molecular Biology at Tokushima University. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you again.
